David Parrott was born in 1923 at Hatfield Road, Northallerton and was the son of Major and Mrs Parrot. David's Father was a Major in the Territorial Army and was officer commanding the TA Battalion in Thirsk Road. His Mother served as a nurse at the Rutson Hospital.

David volunteered for the army in 1941 and was commissioned into the Royal Artillery. He landed in Holland in 1944 with 90 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. On the 13th January 1945, the self propelled gun in which David was travelling overturned and David was killed.

David lies buried in Bergen-op-Zoom War Cemetery, Holland, Plot 1, Row A, Grave 8. He is also remembered on the Northallerton War Memorial.

David was aged 22 years.
