DATE OF DEATH: 5th February 1918

CEMETERY OR MEMORIAL: Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge

Herbert was born in Northallerton and his father was a Mr. A Peacock, of South Parade.

He almost certainly died at the casualty clearing station which was located close to the site of the cemetery. It was one of three in the area, whose names the British soldiers felt to be more than appropriate. They were located near villages called Bandaghem, Mendinghem and Dozinghem and inevitably became known to the Tommies as "Bandage 'em", "Mending 'em" and "Dosing 'em"
