UNIT: 7th Yorkshire Regiment

NUMBER:39140

STATUS: Killed in Action

DATE OF DEATH: 23rd April 1917

CEMETERY OR MEMORIAL: The Arras Memorial, France

AGE: 19

Private Robson was born in Thirsk and he enlisted in Northallerton. His mother was called Lottie, but it appears that she re-married after his death as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records her as Mrs. Lottie Storey of Fairburns Yard, South End, Northallerton. He had worked for the North Eastern Railway at Northallerton as a casual labourer in the Engineers Department before enlisting on 7th November 1916.

He was killed, aged 19, on the opening day of the second phase of the Battle of Arras when the 7th Yorks. spent most of the day in the support line before moving up into the front line during that evening. His body could not be identified after the War and he is commemorated on the Arras Memorial to the Missing.
