Albert was born in Osmotherley and his parents were called Michael and Margaret Walker. He had three brothers and a sister. The family moved to 38 South End, Brompton from Osmotherley sometime between 1881 and 1891, but by the end of the War were living at Church View, Brompton, according to the CWGC records.
Before the War he was employed by Messrs. John Wilford & Sons. He played and umpired for Brompton Cricket Club.
He responded to Kitchener's call for volunteers in 1914 and served until he was killed, aged 39, during the final German offensive of the War.
