Terence Watson was the son of George and Ellen Watson of Ellerbeck and the wife of Vena.
He joined the 4th Battalion Green Howards as a territorial before the war and when war broke out in 1939, he sailed to France with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF). In 1940, Terence was involved in the fighting retreat as the German armies swept westward to the Channel ports. In the desperate fighting around Dunkirk, Terence was killed in action on 31st May 1940.
Terence Watson lies buried in a Commonwealth War Grave at Dunkirk, Plot 2, Row 13, Grave 9. He is also remembered on the Northallerton War Memorial and the All Saints Church Memorial.
