William Place is buried in the Cemetery in Northallerton. He died several months after the Armistice and it is assumed that he died as a result of the wounds he sustained during the War. He may have been undergoing treatment in the Cottage Hospital (now known as the Rutson Hospital) or in the County Hall, part of which was converted for use as a hospital during the War.
Ironically, very little else is known of William.
