Thomas Thompson was born in Northallerton and his parents were called James and Lily Jane. He lived at South End, Northallerton and his father was a butcher.

He enlisted in Northallerton in June 1917 and sailed to France the following October. He died of wounds, aged 20, after being in France for only three months.
